For a technological contracting to produce certain economic effects in Brazil , the agreement must be evaluated and annotated by the INPI.

By legal provision, all contracts concerning transfer of technology must be annotated/registered, whether between domestic companies or between domestic companies and companies with registered offices abroad.

The annotation of the contracts is a condition to:

• Legitimate money remittances abroad as payment for the technology negotiated;
• Fiscal deductions for the company receiving technology regarding the contractual payments made;
• Producing effects before third parties.
